In this café, built on the first floor of the Tempe public library, visitors can sip a latte while searching for paid or volunteer jobs that provide service to the community, visit with a career coach, attend life planning workshops, find out more about caring for aging parents, explore adventure travel opportunities, and compare notes with other boomers entering the same stage of life. The social workers' backgrounds and experience help create rich survey results, now being used to spur the development of new projects that meet critical needs – from teaching English to reaching out to isolated and at-risk adults to supporting grandparents raising grandchildren.
