A Report on the Next Chapter Initiative in Maricopa County, 2003-2007: Making Experience Matter in the Second Half of Life [PDF], published in July 2008, explores how four Arizona cities – Tempe, Mesa, Chandler and Scottsdale – launched innovative community-wide approaches to connect people over 50 to meaningful opportunities to serve. It was produced with support from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust.

Blueprint for The Next Chapter [PDF], published in May 2005, is designed to help guide the development of Next Chapter projects. It identifies the core and optional elements of The Next Chapter and provides practical ideas for planning and developing these elements. The Supplement [PDF] provides brief descriptions of Next Chapter projects currently underway around the country.

Life Planning for the 3rd Age: A Design and Resource Guide [PDF] and The Life Planning Toolkit [PDF], both published by Civic Ventures in January 2004, are designed to provide ideas and resources for professionals who are creating life planning curricula.
