Boston, serving New England - Life Planning Network
Program: Life Planning Network
Web site: [under construction]
Overview: The mission of the Life Planning Network (LPN) is to create an inspired community of professionals from diverse fields who are committed to advancing life planning for the Third Age - the post midlife "bonus years." LPN's goal is to equip and mobilize its members, working with each other and strategic allies, to bring Third-Age life planning into everyday use. LPN has a stated purpose to connect individuals to civic engagement. LPN members come from many disciplines: career and life coaching, gerontology, psychotherapy and counseling, organizational development, human resources, financial planning, law (estate planning, collaborative law and other), community service, employee assistance, academics, media, health, and housing all in non-profit, academic, or corporate settings. All are concerned, in their individual practices, with improving the way midlife and older adults prepare for the transition into, or the experience of their retirement years. A learning organization, the LPN meets at least quarterly (September, December, March, and June) to share information, conduct business, network, and provide feedback to members in their work in this area. The Program Committee seeks educational programs from within the membership, as both "presenters" and participants benefit from the exchange of information and expertise. Additional programs feature outside presenters and programs based on membership needs and interests.
Partners/Sponsors: Foundation for New Directions (non-profit fiscal intermediary until LPN obtains 501c3 status)

Turning the tables: from an experience drain to an experience gain
Turning the tables: from an experience drain to an experience gain

Doomsayers see the aging boom as a problem to be solved, a costly gray wave. Civic Ventures sees this longevity revolution differently — as the springboard for an America made better by experience.
